Alchemy Summer School: You, The Cosmos, and Inner Change

I had a late morning today, so I had to set the Self-Preservation Two piece aside, and I'm posting a course description for the class I'm teaching this summer.

Dates: Every Thursday evening from July 9 to August 27, 6:30-8:30 PM
Location: TBA

This is an eight-week interdisciplinary, interactive journey that's all about you.  Using history, neuroscience, and three powerful spiritual traditions, we dive into the heart of the question, "Who am I, and why am I here?"

Inspired by the words of the Delphic Oracle that first influenced the teachings of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, we will use three little-known modalities to respond to the call, "Know Thyself": Mindfulness meditation, the Enneagram, and Astronomy.  With each modality, we return to Alexandria, Egypt, a central hub in ancient times that was the birthplace of Western ontology.  We'll see that Homer, Pythagoras, St. Augustine, the Roman Catholic Church, Dante, and others embedded a way of understanding human nature and the ability to change within our culture for our benefit here in the 21st century.

Our world needs people now who understand their impulses, gifts, and Achilles' heels, and are at home within themselves if we are to see the changes needed to ensure the earth is still here for the next generation.

Each week includes a reading of The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho and includes self-reflective homework.
