That Rapturous Feeling of Having a Christian Politician to Vote For

If anyone remembers this guy, I do. This is Stockwell Day, a former leader of the conservative Alliance Party in Canada. A Christian, he believed God planted dinosaur bones on the earth to test our faith. When he was running for office, I remember walking up and down my Bible College dorm shrieking rapturously that this was the second coming of Christ, that Jesus was now going to reign on Parliament Hill. Not literally, but metaphorically. I went to his campaign stop in Steinbach and cheered wildly.

Looking back, I’m so embarassed at how I lost my mind, and if I could say anything to my former self today, I’d say, “Breathe. Feel your feet on the ground.” The best social change I’ve seen comes from people who are balanced in the three brains (head, heart, and gut).

If I could say anything to America’s trump-supporters, I’d say, “Breathe, Feel your feet on the ground.”
